Hours: 5-10 hrs/week
Hourly compensation $22 - 28/hr commensurate to experience.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a virtual museum pioneering ceramic art into the digital sphere. The Communications Associate will be responsible for managing MoCA/NY’s social media and digital communication platforms to increase the organization’s audience, engagement, and support.

Responsibilities: 
  • Work with staff to develop a PR & Communications Plan for MoCA/NY
  • Work closely with the MoCA/NY team on developing content for all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Tiktok, LinkedIn, X)
  • Create digital assets for social media, posting at least 4x/week (posts, stories, reels) using images and videos from the Explore page, the CWD map, testimonials, destination highlights, etc.
  • Manage Social Media interns
  • Participate in weekly meetings with appropriate staff, and monthly meetings with the President
  • Develop and maintain a calendar for social media
  • Develop monthly newsletter/e-blasts on Mailchimp, working with staff on content
  • Manage Mailchimp platform
  • Oversee and document analytics for digital marketing platforms
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Detail-oriented and organized, ability to self-prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of/interest in the international ceramic/art community, residencies, museums, galleries, design shops
  • Background in Art history and/or Fine Arts preferred
  • Proficiency in G-Suite, Social Media Managing Platforms, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Proficiency in social media apps (Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, Tiktok)
  • Digital marketing/advertising experience

This is a unique opportunity to work with a virtual museum pioneering ceramic art into the digital sphere. MoCA/NYs Community Relations & Business Development Associate will play a key role in engaging and expanding our community. Celebrating our first anniversary this year, our nonprofit is in an exciting period of growth, and we are looking for someone to join our committed team.

Business Stewardship & Strategy:
  • Support the organization in establishing and developing cooperative relationships with our Ceramic World Destinations (CWD) map contacts and building a portfolio of business and institutional partnerships through direct outreach and online communications
  • Identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit a pipeline of corporate donors, promotions and underwriting prospects
  • Proactively identify strategies to expand engagement and expand MOCA/NY’s underwriting and sponsorship portfolio
  • Collaborate with development/communications teams to develop collateral and identify new opportunities for underwriting that align with MOCA/NY’s Explore Editorial Blog
  • Research activities, opportunities and trends in travel and ceramics to identify new opportunities for partnership
  • Track promotions and manage digital assets as they relate to promotions and sponsorships
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to corporate donors, sponsorship agreements and renewals in our database
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in corporate fundraising and underwriting

CWD Relations & Membership Management
  • Develop relationships with our destinations, encouraging them to be engaged with our online platform and consider underwriting opportunities
  • Help initiate and launch a new membership program for our Ceramic World Destinations map
  • Help manage all aspects of membership through our database

About Your Skills & Qualifications:
You are passionate about ceramics and our areas of focus. An exuberant and imaginative professional, you excel at building community and engaging people, whether in writing (via direct mail, email, and social media) or in person. You are organized and self-directed. Ideally, you have experience working on marketing and/or publicity campaigns, where your approach is innovative while at the same time data-driven and focused on conversion. You are attracted to the friendly and purpose-driven atmosphere of a small nonprofit. Experience in marketing, sales, customer service, or nonprofit fundraising is preferred. Familiarity or proficiency with CRM databases will make for a standout candidate.

MoCA/NY is currently operating as a virtual museum. Our primary focus is developing and supporting Ceramic World Destinations (CWD) - a virtual map that increases visibility for ceramics, provides professional exposure and introduces new populations to the expressive nature of clay.
