Ceramic art comes alive at the Armory Show 2023, a dazzling global art spectacle at New York City's Javits Center. Over four days, 225 galleries from 35 countries converge to inspire collectors, curators, and the public. Emerging and established artists come together for an unforgettable art experience.
MoCA/NY reporter Ilsy Jeon embarks on a ceramic adventure, navigating the mammoth arena, and unearthed 25 galleries embracing this medium. These galleries are on the Ceramic World Destinations map on the MoCA- NY website.
Notable and renowned artists such as Betty Woodman, Beverly Semmes, and Kim Simonsson’s works are on display with stellar examples of their signature styles. Mid-career artists such as Nicole Cherubini, Joakim Ojanen, Sana Mussasama and Roxana Jackson reveal new forms with refreshingly unsettling candor. Emerging artists were elected to show ceramic art for the first time. Browsing the range of expression at this year’s Amory, ceramic art is, no doubt, becoming a viable presence in the art venues of the world.
